fails of the year: solopreneur edition.
Spending time on social media in late December, and drowning in everyone’s highlights and achievements can feel a little overwhelming, so for the sake of balancing out my feed a little—here’s my “Fails of the year: Solopreneur edition”:
I’m one year in, and I still have no clue how to do my accounting. I’m usually great with numbers, but apparently not these ones. It’s super inefficient, and I feel like a walking cliché having my boyfriend do it for me.
My income took a pretty impressive dip this year. I knew this was coming when I started my own business and had prepped myself accordingly—but it still hurts to have little to no savings to put away.
I still feel very awkward plugging my own business. The number of times I’ve recommended other coaches instead of mentioning my own services is bordering on self-sabotage. I’m great at marketing—just not for myself.
I’ve coached many people on building connections and showing up confidently, but I’m still figuring it out for myself. I attended far fewer events than I had planned (though the ones I went to were lovely—let me know if you need tips).
It’s quite a list, but I’m still here, running a business that matters to me—and that feels pretty worth it.
So, if you’re feeling a little shaky about your own 2024 wrap-up—don’t. Failing at something means it wasn’t easy to start with. Those fails might be future highlights in the making.
