getting some headspace after a layoff.

If I hadn’t been laid off, I might still be a tech recruiter.

Back in my old role, even though I knew it wasn’t where I wanted to be, I couldn’t collect the energy to make a change.

Some people are busy with their current jobs and somehow manage to plan their next steps. Kudos to them, but that’s not me.

I get so caught up in my role that I barely find the headspace to think about anything else.

So, when the layoff happened, even though it totally sucked, I was a little relieved. Finally, I had the time and space to figure out what I really wanted.

It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I had to learn how to deal with the uncertainty of it all and build a safety net for myself.

And while I hadn’t made any big moves before, I had spent a lot of time daydreaming about what life could be like.

So, when the time came, and I put all my energy into what I was truly excited about, things clicked into place pretty quickly.

Working with a coach gave me the gentle guidance and accountability to take those final steps out of my comfort zone.

I wouldn’t wish a layoff on anyone, but I’m grateful for the nudge it gave me to finally get out there.
